MEET YOUR THERAPIST
Hi, I’m Ivelisse, and I’m an Anatomy Trains Structural Integration Practitioner and massage therapist. My journey into bodywork has been a winding, humbling one, and it’s rooted in a deep belief that our bodies are interconnected, dynamic systems that deserve care, respect, and love.
My story began on a small organic farm in Downeast Maine, where I first became aware of how small, repetitive stress injuries can build up and show up later in our bodies. A mentor of mine shared with me the idea that true well-being isn’t about simply managing pain or enduring injuries – it’s about nourishing our bodies holistically. He introduced me to Tom Myers’s Anatomy Trains, and that was the spark that ignited my passion for bodywork and the desire to help others live fully in their bodies.
After completing yoga teacher training at the Sivananda Yoga Institute in 2015, I became fascinated with yoga anatomy. I explored how the body’s structure and movement patterns are directly linked to our overall health and sense of well-being. This led me to the Western North Carolina School of Massage, where I trained in Neuromuscular Therapy and Trigger Point Therapy. With a solid foundation in anatomy, I spent the next few years as a massage therapist, empowering clients to reconnect with their bodies and discover new ways to feel more at home in themselves.
But I knew I was meant for something deeper. My next step was studying Anatomy Trains Structural Integration in Maine and San Diego, where I had the privilege of learning from Tom Myers and Kelly Chadwick. It was there I learned the importance of fascia – that incredible, interconnected web of tissue that runs throughout our entire body, linking everything from our muscles to our organs to our bones. Fascia is what holds us together, and when it’s working optimally, we can move with fluidity and ease. It’s this delicate balance within our bodies that allows us to function at our best, and this is why I’m so passionate about working with it.
I believe that Anatomy Trains Structural Integration is a transformative process. It’s not just about relieving discomfort – it’s about helping you rediscover the natural, balanced alignment of your body, allowing you to move more freely and live more fully. It’s a process of awareness and reeducation that can help shift long-held patterns and habits, guiding you back to your true, embodied self.
What I love most about this work is the deep connection I share with my clients. It’s a collaborative journey – an intimate process that evolves moment by moment, allowing us both to explore and understand the body’s unique needs. Being present with people as they reconnect with their own bodies is one of the greatest privileges I can imagine.
Before all of this, I briefly worked as a lawyer in Puerto Rico, and while it was important work, I’m glad I found my way to bodywork instead. As an ATSI practitioner, I get to help people feel healthy, strong, and in tune with their bodies, and there’s no greater joy than guiding others on that path. If I can support you on your journey to feeling more at home in your body, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
